2011 SBNAZ Mock Draft: Houston Texans Select Royalty With Their Pick

The Houston Texans are up. They need a lot of defensive help. According to drafttek.com, they need help all over the defense -- defensive tackle, defensive end, outside linebacker, cornerback and safety. So, pretty much everyone. It would make sense for them to look on the defensive side of the ball for this pick. Cory Williams makes the selection for the Texans:

Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska

Houston takes a look at the board, and with the 11th pick in the 2011 SB Nation Arizona Mock NFL Draft, the Texans select Prince Amukamara, cornerback out of Nebraska. If Patrick Peterson wasn't in this draft, Amukamara would be way up higher on this chart. He's got the skills to provide a much-needed boost to the Texans porous defense, and might just be a shutdown corner in the league if things pan out. Anything would be an improvement for a Houston team that has all the offensive tools to be a force, but can't stop its opposition.

Amukamara will need to work on his timing, as he did not record any interceptions in his last season as a Cornhusker. That is his biggest shortcoming, and hopefully for Houston he will improve that aspect of his game.

Scott Howard is the next to be GM. He will provide the pick for the Minnesota Vikings.

Check out the mock draft on the Arizona Cardinals team blog Revenge of the Birds to see who both the community and the writers are projecting.
