Patrick Peterson Injury Update: Arizona Cardinals CB Doesn't Require Surgery

The Patrick Peterson injury is as expected a minor one. The Arizona Cardinals defensive back had an MRI today to take a look at his ailing left Achilles tendon, and the results were positive. Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic had this report that there were no tears, just inflammation and tendinitis.

Peterson will probably be able to play in the season finale against the Seattle Seahawks, although at this point you'd have to wonder how wise a decision that would be. Peterson and the Cardinals were eliminated from the playoffs this past weekend and have nothing to play for. It might make more sense for Peterson to shut it down for this season and get ready for 2012, where he will probably be one of the most dynamic playmakers in the NFL.

Peterson has had a solid rookie season and could be destined for great things, so there's no real need to risk his future by bringing him back prematurely.
