Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt announced on Friday that Beanie Wells would be the starting running back when the team faces off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
To most, this seems like a move that was inevitable and possibly a long time coming, but former starter Tim Hightower may have sealed his fate with his momentum-killing fumble last week against Seattle.
It's doubtful this move drastically changes the dynamic between the two backs; Wells was already getting the majority of the carries prior to the announcement, regardless of his official status as "starter," and Hightower can still be an effective runner in the right situations.
