The Phoenix Suns got off to a good start on Wednesday and held off a late comeback by the 76ers to knock off Philadelphia 95-89.
The Suns closed the first quarter on an 18-7 run to take a 31-24 lead after one. The lead was short lived as the 76ers came right back in the second quarter and led 49-48 at halftime. The Suns, however, took the lead back with a dominating third quarter. Luis Scola scored 14 points in the quarter as Phoenix built a 75-66 leading heading into the fourth quarter. Despite a late run from the Sixers, the Suns were able to hang onto the lead and secure their 12th victory of the season.
Scola finished with a game-high 21 points, but was just one of five Suns who scored in double figures. Goran Dragic scored 20 points while Marcin Gortat finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds. The Suns were able to hold off the Sixers despite the best effort from Jrue Holiday. Holiday recorded a triple-double in the loss, finishing with 16 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds.
While Phoenix is just 2-14 on the road this season, the win improved the Suns' home record to 10-7.
