The Arizona Diamondbacks used a five-run 6th inning to defeat the Colorado Rockies 8-7 Saturday night.
Arizona jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the 1st, as Aaron Hill, Paul Goldschmidt and Jason Kubel each collected an RBI. Not to be outdone, Colorado used three extra-base hits in the 2nd inning to take a 4-3 lead.
The Rockies tacked on one more run before the Diamondbacks put together their five-run 6th, making it 8-5. Hill accounted for much of the damage, as he contributed a bases-loaded triple to drive in three runs.
Colorado scored once in the 6th and again in the 7th to cut Arizona’s lead to one, but David Hernandez and closer J.J. Putz preserved the victory for the Diamondbacks.
