2012 NFL Week 2 Picks Against The Spread: Don't Take The Appealing Cowboys, Steelers D Could Shut Down Sanchez

Week one of the NFL season is in the books and we now move on to week two. I have the afternoon and night games for this Sunday on tap for you. See my takes on the teams I would bet on given the spreads from Brovada this week.

Dallas Cowboys -3 vs. Seattle Seahawks

With the way the Seahawks have historically played at home, it's tough not to take the points here. The Cowboys played well against the Giants on the road last week and won by a greater margin than 3, but the Giants do not have the same home environment that the 'Hawks are equipped with. Russell Wilson should play better now that he is not facing a defense like the Cardinals have. Take the points for the Seahawks.

Washington Redskins -3 vs. St. Louis Rams

We know that Robert Griffin III is going to be a special talent in this league, but are we confident enough to already start favoring him on the road. His victory over the Saints was impressive, but we must remember the transition period they are going through right now. The Rams' defense, on the other hand, still could use some work. I'll take the 'Skins -3 in this one, but with great precaution.

New York Jets +6 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Jets managed to put up 48 points against the Bills, but there are two things we have to remember: New York as at home and they were playing the BILLS. Pittsburgh's defense is much more complex and they will get pressure on Mark Sanchez. Don't expect Tim Tebow to be the savior this week. Take the Steelers -6.

Detroit Lions +7 vs. San Francisco 49ers

This is perhaps the best game of the week. The Lions will travel to the Bay Area for Schwartz vs. Harbaugh round 2. After SF's victory over Green Bay on the road, it's hard not to like them. But 7 is a lot of points to be giving a team with as explosive of an offense as the Lions have. I'll take the Lions and the points, but this is a game I would try to avoid.
