Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb Not Yet Named Starter, Remains Upbeat

Following a John Skelton ankle injury suffered by the starter during the Arizona Cardinals' 20-16 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals' quarterback situation became even more dynamic, and backup Kevin Kolb understands that nothing is guaranteed in the NFL.

With Skelton expected to miss some time with the ailment, all eyes are on Kolb, who battled for the starting job and lost out on it following training camp.

"You realize it's never as bad or never as far away as you think," he said. "This league has taught me that in the past."

Kolb is approaching the game with the mentality that he has earned another opportunity to compete for the job. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt was non-committal in his prediction for what would happen following Skelton's return.

Kolb went 6-for-8 for 66 yards in relief of Skelton.
