After the trade of cornerback A.J. Jefferson, the Arizona Cardinals had an opening on their 53-man roster. To fill it, they placed a waiver claim on defensive end/outside linebacker Jamaal Westerman. According to Adam Schefter, they were awarded that claim.
Arizona and SF each put in a waiver claim for former Dolphins LB Jamaal Westerman, who was awarded to Cardinals.

Arizona only had three OLBs on their roster -- starters Sam Acho and O'Brien Schofield, plus reserve Quentin Groves.
Clark Haggans, who was expected to be one of the backups, was released with final cuts.
Westerman is 6-3, 265 pounds. He played with the New York Jets for three seasons, starting three games in 2011. He logged 32 tackles and 3.5 sacks as a reserve.
He will play behind O'Brien Schofield and will also play on special teams.
The Cardinals' roster moves might not be done still, so stay tuned.
