2012 U.S. Open Tennis Scores: Roger Federer, Serena Williams Roll On

Roger Federer, Serena Williams and Andy Murray have all advanced on Saturday afternoon at the 2012 U.S. Open. Federer and Williams followed the quick-match trend at Arthur Ashe Stadium as both won in straight-set fashion.

The top-ranked Federer cruised past No. 25 Fernando Verdasco 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Federer won 25 of 26 possible net points. He will face the winner of Mardy Fish and Gilles Simon in the fourth round.

Williams moved on with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Ekaterina Makarova of Russia in a match that lasted just 1:20. Serena gets the winner of Maria Kirilenko and Andrea Hlavackova next.

Murray had a much tougher struggle in his third-round match. The Olympic gold medalist went to three tiebreaks to win a four-set match over No. 30 Feliciano Lopez. The match was nearly four hours, with Murray prevailing 7-6, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6.
