The U.S. Women's basketball team was looking to extend their undefated streak to 40 straight games at the Olympics on Thursday, doing just that by beating Australia by the score of 86-73 on Thursday to advance to the gold-medal game at the 2012 London Games.
The U.S. struggled to defend Aussie Liz Cambage, who scored 17 points in the first half, and WNBA star Lauren Jackson, who added a double-double of her own. They trailed Australia at halftime Thursday and led by just five early in the fourth. The U.S. also had Diana Taurasi's foul trouble to deal with, but got the job done anyway.
The United States will play the winner of the other semifinal between France and Russia.
