The United States men's basketball team is headed for a matchup with Australia in the first round of the elimination tournament.
The USA had their struggles against Argentina for much of the first half, as they were involved in a see-saw affair that went back and forth. Neither the United States or Argentina could gain much separation, as it was a one point game at halftime. But the USA took over in the third quarter with a 42-17 run that put the United States firmly in control.
Arizona's Andre Iguodala had another solid game with 13 points, nine rebounds (five on the offensive glass) and two assists, one steal and one block. James Harden had seven points on 3/5 shooting. Team USA was led by Kevin Durant with eight three pointers and 28 points, LeBron James chipped in 18 points and five assists, and Chris Paul put up 17 points and seven assists.
Australia lost their first two matchups to Brazil and Spain, but rallied to beat Russia, Great Britain and China to advance.
