Broncos Vs. Cardinals Reaction: RB Beanie Wells Impresses In Loss

The Arizona Cardinals lost 16-13 to the Denver Broncos in both teams' preseason finale Thursday night. Despite holding a 10-point lead early in the second half, the Cardinals couldn't grind out the win. Broncos kicker Matt Prater drilled a 44-yard field goal as regulation expired.

The biggest story line surrounding the Cardinals -- starting quarterback -- wasn't answered Thursday as neither Kevin Kolb nor John Skelton saw playing time. Still, a few few starters, including running back Beanie Wells did see the field, and SB Nation's Arizona Cardinals blog, Revenge of the Birds, was impressed by Wells' performance.

"Although the starting QB carousel was out, some of the offensive starters did play, with Beanie Wells getting a few touches early on in the game, and looked sharp, posting a five yard per carry average. The RB had this to say about his performance. "I have to get my leg drive and get my feet under me." My thoughts are five yards a carry and he still needs to get his leg drive back bodes well for a team who will need to run the ball to compensate for the passing game."
