The United States took the overall medal lead on Thursday for the first time, and they continued to hold onto that lead today in London. Team USA has now accumulated a total 43 medals. 21 of those are gold -- which is also the most of any country -- 10 are silver and 12 are bronze.

China trails the US by just one medal. They have a total of 42 medals thus far, 20 of which are gold. China has won 13 silver medals and nine bronze.

Following a big night in the gymnastics portion, Russia has moved into third place on the leaderboard with 23 medals. They have three golds, 12 silver and eight bronze. Great Britain has moved into fourth place with 22 medals, with Japan in fifth at 21.
