2012 U.S. Open Scores: Victoria Azarenka Moves To Third Round

Day 3 of the 2012 U.S. Open is underway and women's No.1 Victoria Azarenka has already advanced to the third round with a victory over Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium. Azarenka was the first match of the day on the main court and she took just 65 minutes to dispatch her opponent, 6-2, 6-2.

American Mallory Burdette has also won her second-round match with a straight-set victory over Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic. The 21-year-old Burdette is playing in her third U.S. Open and this is the first time she has reached the third round.

Women's No. 19 Nadia Petrova has defeated Romanian Simona Halep. The 30-year-old Petrova has never won a Grand Slam singles title.

Bethanie Mattek-Sands, who trains in Phoenix, was bounced from the tournament by Venus Williams on Tuesday.
