Arizona Cardinals Injury Injury: Draft picks Floyd, Fleming To Get Playing Time, Williams To Start

New, 1 comment

The Arizona Cardinals are set to play the Oakland Raiders in their home preseason opener. They will do so with some young players getting some looks in the lineup. Running back Ryan Williams, who was injured during the 2011 preseason and lost his entire season to a torn patella tendon, will make the start at running back for Arizona. Beanie Wells is still recovering from his offseason knee scope. He hopes to play next week against the Titans.

Here is the full list of who will not play for the Cardinals:

  • WR Andre Roberts
  • WR LaRon Byrd
  • RB Beanie Wells
  • CB Michael Adams
  • CB Greg Toler
  • RB LaRod Stephens-Howling
  • FB Jared Crank
  • TE Steve Skelton
  • LB O'Brien Schofield
  • TE Jeff King
  • LB Paris Lenon
As a result, Williams will start for Wells, as noted. Veteran Clark Haggans gets the start at linebacker. Stewart Bradley starts again for Lenon. Early Doucet starts for Roberts at receiver.

Not related to injury, D'Anthony Batiste gets the start at right tackle over Jeremy Bridges.

With the injuries at receiver and cornerback, rookies Michael Floyd and Jamell Fleming should get extended looks. Fans have been calling for more Floyd. They should get their wish.
