Chael Sonnen Moves To Light Heavyweight For Next Fight

The King of Trash Talking Chael Sonnen has his next fight scheduled and his next opponent in place. Sonnen announced his next fight and opponent on Tuesday's episode of "UFC Tonight", which airs on FUEL TV at 7 p.m. Pacific time.

Sonnen is just over a month removed from a knockout loss to UFC middleweight king Anderson Silva on July 7th and he has decided his days at middleweight are over. Sonnen announced that he will be leaving 185-pound division and will be moving up to light heavyweight.

Sonnen will face former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin on December 29 at an event that is expected to be UFC 155. The card is scheduled to headlined by a heavyweight championship fight between Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez.

Sonnen and Griffin have faced each other before in their careers, as the two met on September 6, 2003 at IFC: Global Domination in Denver. For what it's worth, Griffin defeated Sonnen via triangle-choke submission in that fight.

UFC 155 is expected to take place in Las Vegas and will air on pay-per-view.
