John Skelton's Edge Over Kevin Kolb Might Not Be As Much As Believed

Despite a report by Adam Schefter that John Skelton is the favorite to win the starting quarterback job for the Arizona Cardinals, apparently he is not favored by much. According to team reporter Darren Urban, who spoke to head coach Ken Whisenhunt, there is nothing new to report.

@kingehdee @kentsomers Whiz insists there is nothing to report right now. If he is "leading" it's by the slimmest of margins.

This jives with what the team has said all along. The two are not separated by much at this point. Neither has played particularly well in practice or in games consistently.

The decision may take the rest of the preseason. Whisenhunt insists on playing the guy who gives the team the best chance to win. So far, neither has shown that. So while Skelton may be the "favorite," it is by no means a certainty.
