Rory McIlroy completely dominated the 2012 PGA Championship, winning the event while shooting a -6 on Sunday to improve to -13 overall. He broke Jack Nicklaus' record for the largest win at the tournament while finishing eight strokes better than David Lynn. McIlroy only needed 24 puts on 18 greens, propelling him to the second major championship of his career.
Lynn finished in second place at -5 overall. Justin Rose, Keegan Bradley, Ian Poulter and Carl Pettersson tied for a third place finish at -4. Tiger Woods ended his event with a fourth-round par (72), keeping him at -2 through four days of action.
Phil Mickelson, who played his collegiate golf at Arizona State University, shot a +2 in the fourth and final round, dropping him to +3 overall and a tie for 36th place. It wasn't the finish Mickelson was hoping for after two strong days to start the event, but a respectable finish nonetheless.
