The United States Olympics team had another great day at the 2012 London Olympic games, with a number of American olympians taking home medals, while others set themselves up nicely for a run at the podium.
Nathan Adrian won the gold medal in the men's 100M freestyle by just .01 seconds over Australia's James Magnussen.The 23-year-old finished in 47.52 seconds, becoming the first American man to win the 100 free since Matt Biondi in 1988. This is Adrian's second medal of these Olympics winning a silver as part of the men's 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay along with Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte and Cullen Jones.
Gymnast Danell Leyva rallied back to earn himself the bronze in the men's gymnastics all-around event .The 20-year-old out of Miami, FL had issues on the pommel horse, but excellent showings on the parallel bars and high bar got him on the podium. Bronx native John Orozco's, the other American to make the all-around, fell out of contention early finishing eighth.
The US women's rowing team earned themselves a bronze medal in the women's quadruple sculls at Dorney Lake outside of London. The Ukraine won its first-ever gold medal in rowing in the event.
The winning streak continued for two-time defending Olympic beach volleyball gold medalists Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor, coming back to win their match against Austrian sisters Stefanie and Doris Schwaiger to remain unbeaten in the Olympics all-time.
The No. 1 seeded Women's indoor volleyball extended their undefeated streak after taking out the No. 3 seeded Chinese with a 26-24, 25-16, 31-29 victory at Earls Court to improve to 3-0 in the tournament.
