ASU's Brandon Magee Nominated For Community Service Award

Senior linebacker Brandon Magee has been nominated for the 2012 AFCA All State Insurance Good Works Team Award, an award the recognizes student-athletes commitment to volunteering and bettering the community.

The award was first given in 1992 and is considered one of the more prominent off the field honors a college football player can receive.

Magee has visited elementary schools over 30 times to speak about overcoming obstacles and the importance of getting a good education. He has coordinated health fairs for local elementary school children and families and has visited Grand Canyon Academy on multiple occasions to promote academic success.

In order to be nominated for the award, the player needs to be an active member of the community of of a charity and maintain a solid academic record. The final roster of the Good Works Team Award recipients will be revealed sometime in September.
