Belmont Stakes Video 2012: Union Rags' Thrilling Run

The 2012 Belmont Stakes took place in New York on Saturday and although there was no Triple Crown champion, there was yet another exhilarating run down the home stretch to crown a winner. In the first two legs of the 2012 Triple Crown, it was I'll Have Another running down Bodemeister at the wire. On Saturday, it was betting favorite Union Rags chasing down Paynter.

Union Rags hung back through most of the race, which is by far the longest of the three Triple Crown runs. As the horses rounded the final turn and headed into the home stretch, Union Rags made his move. Union Rags finally overtook Paynter in the final hundred yards to go ahead by a nose right at the finish line.
