French Open Results: Maria Sharapova Defeats Sara Errani For Women's Singles Tournament Victory

Maria Sharapova defeated Sara Errani to win the Women's Singles tournament on day 14 of the 2012 French Open. Errani, who was seeded at no. 21, was overwhelmed by Sharapova's power and ability to push the pace. Sharapova won in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-2, and with the victory she becomes only the 10th woman in the history of tennis to complete a Career Grand Slam. Errani may have been overwhelmed, but her efforts are sure to send her up the rankings.

John McEnroe and Patrick McEnroe beat Mikael Pernfors and Mats Wilander in the Men's Legends tournament, and Lindsay Davenport and Martina Hingis defeated Martina Navratilova and Jana Novotna in the Women's Legends tournament. Both tournaments were in their fourth round.
