College World Series Scores: Arizona Wildcats Advance To Super Regionals With Win Over Louisville

The Arizona Wildcats scored upwards of 15 runs for the third straight game on Sunday night, defeating the Louisville Cardinals by a score of 16-3 to advance to the Super Regionals of the 2012 College World Series. UA scored a total of 47 runs in their three games this weekend, a school record.

Johnny Field got things going for the Wildcats in the third inning with a grand slam, a no-doubt shot over the left field wall. Field ended his night going 4-for-6 with seven runs batted in and four runs scored.

The blowout was on after that as Arizona scored one run in the fifth inning, four in the sixth, four in the seventh and three in the eighth. Freshman catcher Riley Moore went a perfect 4-for-4 with a walk at the plate.

Arizona received yet another strong pitching performance from starter James Farris, who threw all nine innings against a talented Louisville lineup. Farris allowed three runs (two earned) on 12 hits and a walk, striking out seven in the process.

An announced crowd of 3,485 saw the Wildcats clinch their third trip to the Super Regionals in school history. Arizona will now rest and prepare for St. John's, who upset nationally ranked North Carolina this weekend at home. Dates and start times for the series are expected to be announced on Monday night.
