No. 4 seed Andy Murray managed to defeat Marcos Baghdatis in a grueling match that went past Wimbledon's 11 p.m. end-of-day deadline. Murray won the first set but Baghdatis came back to win the second, and Murray appeared to be fading early in the third. He found a second wind, however, and went on to win the third set. As the fourth set developed it was Baghdatis that was fading as Murray poured on the pressure. Murray was up 4-1 as time expired, but any hope of a rest for Baghdatis was dashed when the officials allowed play to continue. Two minutes later Murray won the set 6-1, taking the match and advancing to Round 4.
Andy Roddick was not so lucky on Saturday, as his run at Wimbledon came to a close with a loss to David Ferrer. In the Ladies' draw, Serena Williams was victorious over Jie Zheng in three sets.
