Beleaguered Boston Red Sox third-baseman Kevin Youkilis has been on the trading block for quite sometime, and major-league sources told FOXsports.com that the Diamondbacks are one of the teams expressing interest.
The Red Sox have made clear that (a) Youkilis is available and (b) they are willing to include cash to facilitate a better player return. In response, a number of clubs have indicated that they have interest in acquiring the three-time All-Star.
With Ryan Roberts struggling a little bit at the plate, a rejuvenated Youkilis would provide solid depth at the hot corner. But that is only if Youkilis can regain his stroke. He has only played in 39 games this year due to a lower back strain and is posting the worst offensive line of his career at .215/.301/.341. He is 1-21 over his last seven games. But despite all the offensive woes, Youkilis has a much appreciated work ethic and lots of postseason experience.
