College World Series 2012: Wildcats Defeat UCLA 4-0

The Arizona Wildcats have opened up the 2012 College World Series just as they had hoped. On Sunday night, Arizona improved to 2-0 overall in the double-elimination national tournament in Omaha as they defeated the UCLA Bruins by a final score of 4-0.

The Wildcats looked impressive in the shutout, keeping their cool even while working their way out of tricky situations like escaping a bases-loaded situation in the top of the fifth inning. The Bruins were never really in the game and now Arizona is sitting pretty as they await their final opponents in Bracket 1.

Konner Wade pitched a complete game, five-hit shutout for the Wildcats in impressive fashion.

UCLA will next play Florida State in an elimination game. Arizona has already bested both teams and will wait to see who they will be taking on as their final opponent in the bracket. Florida State eliminated Stony Brook from competition earlier in the day.
