2012 U.S. Open Winner: Jim Furyk Fades, Webb Simpson Wins

Jim Furyk looked like he was in great shape to win the 2012 U.S. Open as he held the lead for most of the night. But he started bogeying and couldn't get strokes back. Furyk bogeyed the 6th hole to fall to even par, the 13th hole to fall into a tie with Webb Simpson (already in the clubhouse) for the lead at +1, then had another bogey to fall back a stroke on the 16th, and then botched the 18th hole to fall out of contention. Furyk finished in a tie for fourth place.

Simpson ended up winning this championship thanks to finishing under par in the final round, thanks mainly due to four birdies in five holes on 6, 7, 8 and 10 and finishing with a round of two-under par.
