U.S. Open Golf Leaderboard 2012: Phil Mickelson 8-Over Overall After Round 3

Phil Mickelson's Round 3 has concluded, and he has posted a 71, echoing his Round 2 score. The Arizona State University graduate has struggled in the 2012 U.S. Open, and finds himself on the back half of the leaderboard, tied for 43rd at 8-over.

Mickelson picked up an early bogey on the second hole, but was able to recover with a birdie on hole four. Hole six brought another bogey, as it had in Round 2. A birdie on 12 evened things out again. In Round 2 hole 18 had saved Mickelson from the cut line, but it was not so kind to him in Round 3. He picked up a late bogey on the final hole, leaving him at 1-over on the day.

Elsewhere on the leaderboard, the three men tied for first, Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk and David Toms are set to tee off in a moment. Fourth place Michael Thompson is off to a good start with a birdie on hole one, but with those three in front of him he'll need more than that if he wants to move up the board.
