2012 U.S. Open Leaderboard Update: Jim Furyk at -1, Phil Mickelson In Dire Straits At +6

Phil Mickelson is in trouble. He had a bad first round and seemed to wilt in the face of another Tiger Woods onslaught. With one birdie and seven bogeys in his first round at the US Olympic Club, Lefty will have work to do

Mickelson bogeyed the 4th, 5th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 14th and 16th holes (with his lone birdie coming on 13). He hit only eight of 18 greens in regulation and found the fairway only seven times in 14 tries. Not good stats for a guy who hopes to have any shot of winning the U.S. Open.

Honestly, none of the Arizona golfers seem to be in good shape other than Jim Furyk, who is having a good first round so far halfway through at -1. Aaron Baddeley and Robert Garrigus have had solid rounds as well at +2. All the other golfers with Arizona connections are at +5 or over. Yikes. Crazy golf course.
