2012 Kentucky Derby: Results And Recap

The 2012 Kentucky Derby took place, as always, at Churchill Downs in Louisville on Saturday. A crowd of well over 100,000 spectators watched live as the Run for the Roses crowned its 138th champion.

15-1 underdog I'll Have Another stunned everyone with a thrilling win, seeming to come from out of nowhere down the stretch and overtaking betting favorite Bodemeister, who had led for the entire race. Dullahan took third, while the other big favorite in the race, Union Rags, had a very disappointing finish at seventh place.

While it is unlikely that I'll Have Another will be able to piece together the Triple Crown (not even the most dominating horses have been able to accomplish the feat since 1978), all attention will be on the newly-christened celebrity as the Preakness Stakes rapidly approaches.
