2012 Kentucky Derby Results: I'll Have Another Takes The Victory, Union Rags Disappoints

The 2012 138th Annual Running of the Roses is in the books, and I'll Have Another came in at the head of the pack, winning the 2012 Kentucky Derby in a tight finish. The first jewel of the Triple Crown almost went to Bodemeister, who lead for much of the race. 9/2 favorite Union Rags was not in contention at the finish, as the inside post draw proved to be too much to overcome and Union Rags was stuck in traffic coming down the stretch.

Bodemeister dominated much of the race, having as much as a five length lead as the race came around the final turn. In the far straight Bodemeister also managed to outrun Trinniberg, a horse with a much better sprint But in the end, I'll Have Another showed phenomenal closing speed and consumed that gap, overtaking Bodemeister for the victory. The final odds on I'll Have Another were 14-1.
