I'll Have Another took the second jewel in the Triple Crown, winning the 2012 Preakness Stakes on Saturday. Bodemeister, again the favorite, was in front for much of the race. But just as it happened at the 2012 Kentucky Derby, I'll Have Another made his move in the closing stretch and ran down Bodemeister to win by a neck.
The pace for the race was a little slower than it was in the Kentucky Derby, which was thought to favor Bodemeister. That turned out to not be the case, as Jockey Mario Gutierrez rode I'll Have Another one step closer to horse racing's most elusive prize, the Triple Crown, which has not been won since 1978. The final odds on I'll Have Another were 3-1, with 2-1 for Bodemeister. Creative Cause came in third.
