The Arizona State baseball team will host its final series at Packard Stadium this weekend as ASU hosts Pac-12 foe Washington. ASU (32-18, 14-10) currently sits three and a half games behind Pac-12 leading Oregon (19-8). Oregon does not play a conference series this weekend.
Arizona State has swept three straight Pac-12 home series and is 12-1 at home against conference foes. The Sun Devils have not lost a conference home game since March 24.
Brady Rodgers and Trevor Williams are both inside the top 5 in the Pac-12 in ERA. Rodgers was posted a 2.17 ERA in 99 2/3 innings pitched, and Williams has posted a 1.83 ERA and is the Pac-12's only 10-game winner. Right-hander Jake Barrett is third in the conference with 10 saves.
Arizona State is coming off a sweep of Gonzaga last weekend. ASU secured its 50th straight 30-win season with a 4-2 victory on Friday night, and on Saturday, Trevor Williams became the first 10-game winner in the Pac-12.
On Wednesday, the Sun Devils lost their final non-conference game of the season as they fell to the University of Arizona 10-2. Even though the teams are both in the Pac-12, the game was played as a mid-week non-conference game. Nothing seemed to go right for ASU, as the Sun Devils committed three errors, ASU pitchers walked eight Wildcat hitters and hit three others.
Washington (27-21, 11-13) comes into the series 3-3 in their last two conference series. Washington beat Portland 3-0 on Wednesday to end a three-game skid.
Junior Jayce Ray leads Washington in hitting with a batting average of .339. Ray also leads the team with 61 hits. Junior right-hander Aaron West leads the Washington pitching staff, West has a 2.44 ERA in 85 innings pitched.
