The 2012 Preakness Stakes will take place this Saturday, May 19th at Pimlico in Baltimore, Maryland. You can watch it on NBC.
There were originally three horses with Arizona-connections, but only two remain. All three hoses were trained by Arizona-born owner Bob Baffert. Bodemeister was the Kentucky Derby runner-up and probably has the strongest chance of winning the Preakness based on previous results. Liaison is the other Baffert-owned horse that ran at Churchill Downs, and finished sixth at the Derby, and it might be a great underdog pick for those of you looking for under-the-radar horses. The other horse (and new entry; it didn't compete in the Derby) is Paynter, but Baffert said that the horse actually would not compete at the end.
