Arizona State Rises In Rankings After Sweeping Oregon State

The Arizona State baseball team rose in a number of college baseball polls after pulling off an impressive sweep of previously ranked Oregon State.

Baseball America rose the Sun Devils three spots after ASU's impressive weekend. ASU outscored Oregon State 16-5 over the three game series.

The Sun Devils moved back into the Collegiate Baseball Rankings as the Sun Devils are ranked No. 24. The National College Baseball Writers of America moved the Sun Devils up to No. 21 in their latest poll.

News and Notes:

  • Arizona State leads the Pac-12 in home runs (23) and ERA (2.62).
  • Senior Abe Ruiz leads the Pac-12 in doubles (12) and home runs (8). Junior Joey DeMichele leads the Pac-12 in triples (4).
  • After his outing on Thursday night, Brady Rodgers lowered his ERA to 1.12 for the season.
  • Catcher Max Rossiter hit is first home run as a Sun Devil on Saturday in the eighth inning. A 3-run bomb to left-center field, that broke open Saturday's game for the Sun Devils.
  • Arizona State hosts USC next weekend, Friday-Sunday. On Friday night, ASU will unveil their new black jerseys. Fans are encouraged to wear black and fans will be able to purchase the new merchandise at Packard Stadium Friday night.
