The Masters 2012 Leaderboard: Phil Mickelson Triple-Bogey Puts Him Two Back Through Front Nine

A triple bogey nearly cost Phil Mickelson the 2012 Masters before it even began. Now another triple in the final round might cost him yet another green jacket.

Mickelson was hanging around through three holes before he decided to go crazy on the par-3 4th hole, hitting the ball well behind the gallery and the grandstand, then spent a few shots trying to knock it out of the hazard with the wrong hand. You can see the entire sequence here, with fitting background music accompanying the sequence.

Mickelson did slightly make up for his colossal error by birdieing on the par-5 8th, and he's still only two strokes back of the leader. Mickelson now trails the leader Louis Oosthuizen, who put up the second double-eagle in Masters history to move up to eight-under (he bogeyed a few moments ago). Oosthuizen now holds a one stroke lead over Bubba Watson and Peter Hanson.
