NCAA Baseball Rankings: Arizona State No. 28 In Latest Poll

Arizona State moved up one spot to No. 28 in the latest update of the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll.

The Sun Devils took two of three games from the Washington State Cougars this past weekend. On Sunday, the Sun Devils rallied to tie the game at 6-6 at the top of the ninth inning, but lost on a walk-off single.

ASU continues to benefit from the stellar pitching of sophomore Trevor Williams. The right-hander pitched a complete game shutout in ASU's 2-0 victory over the Cougars on Saturday. Williams has a 1.94 ERA and an 8-2 record in 11 starts. He was recently named College Baseball Hall of Fame watch list for Pitcher of the Year alongside teammate Brady Rodgers.

This weekend, the Sun Devils host the Utah Utes in a three-game Pac-12 series. ASU (26-17, 11-10 Pac-12) currently is fifth in the Pac-12 standings, but could move up if they take care of business against the last place Utes (12-30, 6-15).

Other Pac-12 teams ranked in the poll include No. 6 Arizona (29-13, 12-6), No. 7 Oregon (30-13, 14-7), No. 10 Stanford (28-11, 10-8) and No. 11 UCLA (28-12, 12-9).
