With the 31st pick in the 20912 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select Harrison Smith, safety, Notre Dame.
Having drafted Nick Perry a few picks previous, the Patriots now make perhaps a small reach to fill a team need at safety and grab Smith. The Pats like smart guys on their defense and in Smith they get a guy who is not only smart but very athletic. He isn't the fastest guy on the field, but he has great anticipation and energy, which more than makes up for it.
The New York Giants are now on the clock with the final pick in the first round.
