College Baseball Rankings: Arizona State Drops In Rankings After Stanford Sweep

The Arizona State baseball team dropped eight spots to No. 29 in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll. Stanford swept the Sun Devils (24-16) in a three-game weekend series. The Cardinal (25-1) rose to No. 13 in the same poll.

Arizona St. nearly avoided the sweep on Sunday after loading the bases in the ninth inning with the tying run at the plate with one out. However, two consecutive strikeouts ended the Sun Devils' chance at salvaging the weekend series.

ASU heads to Pullman, Wash. to take on the Washington St. Cougars for a three-game weekend series starting on Friday. The Sun Devils dropped from second place to sixth place in the Pac-12 standings after their losses to Stanford.

Rival Arizona (26-13) is ranked No. 6, while other Pac-12 schools ranked include No. 9 Oregon (27-12), No. 10 UCLA (26-10) and No. 28 Oregon State (26-12).
