After a six-week hiatus the UFC returns this Saturday afternoon for a card airing on FUEL TV. The card takes place from Stockholm, Sweden. This is the second time the UFC will feature a main card on FUEL TV, the first UFC on FUEL TV event drew record ratings for the network.
Rising light heavyweight Alexander Gustafsson (13-1) faces Thiago Silva (14-2) in the main event of the afternoon. Gustafsson is on a four-fight win streak since being submitted by Phil Davis at UFC 112. Gustafsson is 5-1 in the UFC and he has finished all of his fights.
Silva is coming off a no contest against Brian Vera at UFC 125. Silva originally defeated Vera by unanimous decision, however it was determined that Silva's post-fight urine sample was inconsistant with that of human urine, meaning Silva either tampered with the sample or submitted a sample that was not from him. Silva was suspended one year by the Nevada Athletic Commission.
The co-main event features a middleweight clash between Brian Stann (11-4) and Alessio Sakara (15-8). Stann was submitted by Chael Sonnen in his last fight at UFC 136. Stann came into the fight against Sonnen with a three-fight win streak including a knockout of Chris Leben.
Sakara has been off for a year, while he recovered from ACL surgery. In his last fight, Sakara lost to Chris Weidman. Sakara only fought three times from 2009-2011.
