NFL Mock Draft 2012: The St. Louis Rams' Pick, According To SB Nation Arizona Writers

With the sixth pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams select Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State.

The first five picks of the NFL Draft fell exactly as the St. Louis Rams wanted them to go. The top rated wide receiver, Oklahoma State product Justin Blackmon fell right into Jeff Fisher and Les Snead's lap at number 6.

If Blackmon ends up here I'm confident the Rams will make this selection. While with the Tennessee Titans Jeff Fisher drafted a WR in the first round twice, second round twice and third round six times. This is important because it shows Fisher values drafting the position and won't hesitate to pull the trigger.

The Rams lost their best WR Brandon Lloyd in free agency and the only other current receivers on the roster are Danario Alexander, John Chiles, Brandon Gibson, Nick Miller, Austin Pettis, Greg Salas and Steve Smith.

With Blackmon in the fold you have a young, up and coming core to build around quarterback Sam Bradford with the first round pick, Pettis plus tight end Lance Kendricks.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are now on the clock. Jess Root will make the pick

Previous picks:

  1. Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
  2. Washington Redskins: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
  3. Minnesota Vikings: Matt Kalil, OT, USC
  4. Cleveland Browns: Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
  5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
