With the NFL Draft about a month away, it is time for the writers of our fine web site to take our shot at projecting how things will turn out on draft day at the end of April. Will Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III be the first pick overall?
Over the next month, we will mock the NFL Draft and make picks based on what we think will happen in the first round of the draft.
Writers Jess Root, Brad Denny, Ryan Bafaloukos, Cody Ulm, Jose Romero and Bryan Gibberman will all be part of the mock draft.
Now to begin...
With the first pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select...Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
This is probably one of the least surprising picks in any draft at any time. The Colts didn't have Peyton Manning in 2011 and went from a playoff team to the worst team in the league. Then they cut Manning. Luck is considered by many as the best QB prospect to come out of the draft in quite a long time.
It is the perfect marriage. A team in need of a new franchise quarterback and a player who is believed to be that guy. Of course the challenge will be that he will be following one of the greatest QBs ever to play the game.
Regardless, everyone has known for months that the Colts intend on drafting Luck. In April it will become official.
Next up, the Washington Redskins, picked by Brad Denny
