Notes To Ponder From NCAA West Regionals

Fact and figures:
1. Arizona State has served as official host of the NCAA West Regional three times in the past five years, including 2012.

↵

2. A crowd of 14,913 attended Louisville-Michigan State Thursday (I beat SB Nation Arizona’s Seth Pollack on the guess of how many would attend).

↵

3. All four schools here in Phoenix have won at least one NCAA championship.

↵

4. This was Florida’s seventh Sweet 16 overall, sixth under coach Billy Donovan. That’s winning right there.

↵

5. Rick Pitino remains perfect in Sweet 16 games, 10-0. He’s 4-0 in those games at Louisville including Thursday’s win.

↵

6. Louisville is 4-10 overall against No. 1 seeds in the tourney.

↵

7. Marquette has been to the Sweet 16 15 times.

↵

8. Michigan State has been in 10 Sweet 16s in the past 15 years under coach Tom Izzo.

↵

9. Michigan State has been a No. 1 seed five times under Izzo, but failed to make the Final Four for the first time as a No. 1.
