Despite the rough season so far, Arizona State has the luxury of playing five of their final seven games at Wells Fargo Arena starting Thursday against Utah (tip off scheduled for 6:30 MT).
The Utes (5-18) have been absolutely dreadful this season as they're the only team in the conference with a worse overall record than the Devils. But if you watched their first meeting in Utah less than a month ago, you wouldn't guess it. The Utes jumped out to a 12-0 lead to start the game and were up by as much as 28 points in route to their 64-43 spanking of the Sun Devils.
With that win, Utah leads the all-time series between the schools 26-17. Both teams used to be quite familiar in fact in their old Border Conference and Western Athletic Conference days, with their rivalry dating all the way back to the early 1960s.
Before their last matchup though, Head Coach Herb Sendek had never coached against Utes. With the first game jitters now out of the way, hopefully Sendek can lead his boys to a victory in Utah's first visit to Tempe since March 24, 1992.
