Phil Mickelson finishes the day in a huge tie for 15th at -3 after a solid round of golf. Mickelson started on the back nine and had birdies on the 14th, 17th and 18th holes to get to -3, then managed a birdie on the par-5 third hole before bogeying the par-3 fourth hole. Mickelson will look to leapfrog to the top of the leaderboard this weekend.
No one has yet to do as well as Webb Simpson at -6. We have a five way tie for second at -5, with Derek Lamely, Jarrod Lyle, Kevin Na, Harrison Frazar and Ryan Palmer all right there behind Simpson. Lamely tore through the back nine with five birdies, Lyle got an eagle on the 13th and three straight birdies on 15, 16 and 17, Na played a bogey-free round of golf, Frazar did his damage on the front nine, and Palmer is still out on the course with the best chance of catching up to Simpson.
