It seems like South African Trevor Immelman's name hasn't been heard much since his 2008 Masters victory, but he's brought his game to TPC Scottdale so far as he and Webb Simpson have jumped out to an early lead at the 2012 Waste Management Phoenix Open on Thursday.
Both men sit at -6 midway through their back nine, both Immelman and Simpson are sporting a bogey-free rounds on the day thus far with six birdies, currently on the 15th and 13th holes respectfully.
Jarrod Lyle and Harrison Frazier sit one stroke behind them at 5-under, while six sit at 4-under including Dustin Johnson. Phil Mickelson just bogeyed the 4th, (his 13th hole) to move back to 3-under, while fan favorite Freddy Couples unfortunately had to withdraw earlier in the day due to illness, as did Nick Watney, also citing an Illness.
