The Arizona Wildcats are yet to truly be challenged this season. On Tuesday night, they'll face their toughest challenge yet as the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles come to McKale Center.
The Eagles reached the NCAA Tournament last year, although they lost their top four scorers. Similar to Arizona last season, Southern Miss is extremely undersized. They have no players in their starting lineup taller than 6'6, and they've been beaten badly on the boards this season.
Senior forward Dwayne Davis leads the way with 15 points and nearly five rebounds a night. Jonathan Mills serves as the team's center at 6'5 and 240lbs, and he's had a strong year with 10 points and 7.6 rebounds a night.
As a team, the Eagles are pretty deep and currently have nine players playing upwards of 14 minutes a game. They do not shoot the ball particularly well, and they've hit just 30.9 percent of their three-point attempts. Another concern will be turnovers, especially on the road; Southern Miss gives the ball away to their opponents about 17 times a game.
The Golden Eagles have some talent, but their lack of size and proven guard play is going to be pretty apparent this evening. Final prediction: Arizona 82 - Southern Miss 64
Start Time: 7:30 p.m. MT
