A Christmas wishlist for Arizona sports

What sports fans wish they could have under their metaphorical Christmas tree of local sports

Christian Petersen

2012 has not been a great year for sports in Arizona. The Suns went from not very good to a little worse than that. The Arizona Cardinals went, during the course of the season, from one of the talks of the league to one of the worst teams. The Arizona Diamondbacks crumbled under the expectations of being championship contenders. The Phoenix Coyotes suffered through ownership and legal woes and the NHL was locked out.

Now that it is Christmas, here are some of what sports fans throughout the Valley are hoping for as a lovely gift onder their tree.

Arizona Cardinals

This is easy. Fans want a quarterback -- not just any quarterback, but one they can cheer for for many years. The team has tried Derek Anderson, Max Hall, John Skelton, Kevin Kolb, Rich Bartel, Ryan Lindley and Brian Hoyer. None of them will do. they want a bright and shiny new quarterback, not some team's regifted or hand-me-down QB.

While they are wishing, a good offensive line would help.

Arizona Diamondbacks

If there is anything that fans want, it is for the Justin Upton trade rumors to end. Either trade him or keep him. Stop teasing everyone. Believe it or not, the team is great shape otherwise.

Phoenix Suns

Would it be too much to ask for a go-to scorer?

Phoenix Coyotes

Hockey fans don't ask for much. They just want their sport back.

Arizona Wildcats

These fans are the greediest. They want a national championship. Not that it's out of the question for the basketball team. They wouldn't mind a do over in football against the Sun Devils

ASU Sun Devils

The Devils actually got their gift in Jahii Carson. They also have Todd Graham. They ask for expected growth and improvement. All they ask this year is a basketball win over the Wildcats.
