Making the postseason is an accomplishment for a lot of teams in college football, but Arizona State head coach Todd Graham said the Sun Devils aren't satisfied with making a bowl game. Instead, they want to win a bowl game.
The Sun Devils are currently riding a three-game bowl losing streak, including a 56-24 loss in the Maaco Bowl last season. Graham said ASU got the experience of playing in a bowl last year and now the goal is to come away with a victory.
"I'm not interested in going to a bowl game," Graham said, according to Fox Sports Arizona. "I'm interested in going and winning."
A victory against Navy in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl would give the Sun Devils an 8-5 record, but it would also have an impact off the field. Tight end Chris Coyle said a victory would give the Sun Devils some momentum going into the offseason and something they can build on for next season. Recruiting coordinator and tight end coach Chip Long said winning bowl games also helps in recruiting.
While those and other benefits are nice, Graham said the team currently has one focus and that is beating Navy.
