A mood can dramatically change in a blink, or depending on what side of a winning streak the team is on. Last week the Phoenix Suns were short and somber after dropping seven in a row, but with three wins in a row since then they are all smiles.
Here is what we learned today:
What Did The Team Do?
The team went through a walk through for the game tomorrow against the Charlotte Bobcats. They were all in good spirits at practice just like Coach Gentry. It was a light day in the office before the team headed out to St. Joseph's Hospital to spend time with sick and injured kids. This time of year that might be a little more important than an extra lay-up line or a box drill to get better on the boards.
They will have another walk through tomorrow before the game.
Oh, and Coach Gentry nearly did this to me in a demonstration while describing how funny this video is:
So there is that.
Injury Updates
There are no injuries to speak to. Sebastian Telfair did have a cast or a wrap on, but was shooting in it on the practice court long after I left.
Kendall Marshall D-League Update
The debut was very good with 21 points, 8 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 turnovers on 38% shooting from the field. His team (the Bakersfield Jam) won the game and it was all positive reviews. Then the next six games happened where Marshall has averaged 8 PPG, 7 APG, 3.6 RPG, 3.5 TPG on 32.7% shooting.
Overall it has been a tough transition to the NBA and Marshall should be called up for evaluation before Christmas. Here is the link to the YouTube channel playlist for archived games for the Bakersfield Jam.
The Jam play the Idaho Stampede in back-to-back games on December 19th and 20th, which will likely be the last two games during this assignment.
The 2013 NBA Draft
John Treloar was in Europe for the past two weeks looking over the prospects abroad to getting ready for the NBA Draft. They obviously do not have enough information to "like" anyone in particular, but as GM Lance Blanks told me they are evaluating everything to see if there is someone out there worth him going out to see.
Here are a few of the big name international prospects for 2012:
